Around the Hotel

A Unique and Magical Setting

Located at the heart of Moroccan Berber country, in the Toubkal National Park, the Kasbah du Toubkal offers nature lovers a truly peaceful heaven.

This authentic Atlas mountain guest house overlooks the village of Imlil, and is situated on the hillside of the Toubkal mountain, the highest peak in North Africa.

Once a fortified summer house, the property was lovingly restored by local craftsmen using ancestral Berber techniques. This unique Berber Hospitality centre now stands proud above walnut groves and opens onto wide open spaces, mountain peaks, waterfalls, a lake and deep gorges. Much more than a guest house, the Kasbah offers an extraordinary human experience, with friendly and genuine staff, breathtaking sceneries; it offers a magical and serene refuge away from the usual tourist track.

The emblematic city of Marrakech, just 40 miles away from the Kasbah, offers a colourful and bustling contrast.

The old town of Marrakech, called the Medina, is a fortified city enclosed in 10 metre high walls that date back to Medieval times. It is home to sites of interest such as the world famous Jemaa el-Fna square, the Ben Youssef Koran school, the superb Saadian tombs, the Koutoubia Mosque, or the Majorelle gardens restored by Yves Saint-Laurent.

The Berber town of Asni sits in a green and fertile valley, rich in orchards and lush gardens.

It is best known for its bustling Saturday morning market, which offers an excellent opportunity to discover local arts and crafts. Located just 15 km away from the Kasbah, it offers an interesting half day excursion.

Tinmel Mosque (12th century)

Built in 1156 in the Berber village of Tinmel, this historic mosque was erected to commemorate Mohamed Ibn Tumart, the founder of the Almohad dynasty.

Recently listed UNESCO world heritage, it is one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims.

It is situated 1 hourÔÇÖs drive away from the Kasbah.

The Toubkal Mountain

The Toubkal mountain is the highest peak of North Africa and of the Arab world. It culminates at a height of 4,167 metres and is a favourite destination for climbers.

The trail starts at Imlil, and the Kasbah which features comfortable accommodation, a restaurant and a hammam offers the perfect base for trekkers.

Local ski resort: Oukaïmeden

Located 64 km away from Imlil, AfricaÔÇÖs highest ski resort of Ouka├»meden sits at an altitude of 2,624 metres above sea level.

It offers 4 drag lifts, a chairlift, 5 runs and intermediate slopes, and a skiing school making it a fun ski resort for all the family. The Oukaimeden ski resort is easily accessible from the Kasbah for day trips.

Azzaden Trekking lodge

For trekkers wanting to explore the spectacular Valley of Azzaden, or for those looking for a unique hideaway, we offer comfortable accommodation at our first trekking lodge built in the village of Aït Aïssa.

The lodge is situated 18 km away from the Kasbah, and can only be accessed on foot, by mule or by driving along a very narrow dirt road. It takes about 4,5 hours to walk to the lodge, and we offer luggage transfer and a picnic lunch for about 70 euros per person.

Our lodge comprises 4 en suite bedrooms, a small hammam, underfloor heating, a cosy lounge with fireplace and large bay windows, and a unique terrace with views of the snow-capped Toubkal summits.
